Nobody warns you
that the sleep goes first.

Not the moods. Not the forgetting. The sleep. One plant extract, at the dose used in a placebo-controlled trial — and nothing else in the bottle.

The pattern

Asleep by nine. Awake at three.

For a lot of people the sleep doesn't fade slowly. It breaks — at a particular point, for no reason anyone can name — and then it doesn't come back.

I have trouble keeping my eyes open by about 8:30 pm, and keeping them closed at 3am.— r/Menopause

You fall asleep fine. Three hours later you're flat on your back doing arithmetic about tomorrow. You're not sleepy — you're depleted and wide awake at the same time, which is a different problem, and it doesn't respond to being sedated.

I just want to know I'm not the only one sitting up night after night because I cannot shut my brain down.— Mayo Clinic Connect
Why the usual answer misses

Melatonin tells your body what time it is.

That was never the problem.

Melatonin is a timing signal. Genuinely useful if your body clock has drifted — jet lag, shift work, a late night that stuck. It has nothing to say about a mind that won't stand down, and for a lot of people it buys a few hours at the cost of the next morning.

Even 1 mg of melatonin was making me feel too groggy in the first part of the day.— r/Menopause

Nightsteady works on a different idea: the stress that's keeping you awake, rather than the clock. In the trial our extract comes from, the same capsule moved both — how well people slept, and how stressed they reported feeling — with no increase in next-day sleepiness.

The evidence

Everyone improved in week one. Including the people taking nothing.

This is the part of the data that doesn't flatter anybody, and it's why we trust it. Every new supplement feels like it's working for about a week — that's the grey line. The real difference showed up at week three.

Saffron extract, 20 mg Placebo

Self-reported sleep quality (0–10), 158 adults, 4 weeks. Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled. Registration DRKS00033435. Findings relate to the saffron extract studied, not to any finished product.

What's in it

One ingredient. Not eleven.

Most sleep supplements are a stack — six to eleven things, rarely with the amounts printed. If they knew which one worked, they'd only put that one in.

A typical sleep gummy
GABA— mg
St. John's Wort— mg
Passionflower— mg
Rhodiola— mg
Ashwagandha— mg
Chamomile— mg
Saffron (unstandardised)88.5 mg
Magnesium, Zinc, B6, B12, D3— mg

St. John's Wort can interact with hormonal contraceptives, blood thinners and some antidepressants. Amounts frequently undisclosed.

That's the list. One capsule, about an hour before bed.

20 mg because that's the dose that performed in the trial — not the biggest number we could fit on the front. In that study the lower dose matched the higher one on sleep quality and on stress, with fewer stomach complaints.

Every amount printed. Nothing hidden in a blend.

Where we actually are

We'd rather show you the receipts.

Nightsteady doesn't exist on a shelf yet. Here's exactly where it is, updated as it moves. If any step slips, the founding list hears it first.

Why us

It takes about three weeks. We're telling you now.

We could say it works the first night. It doesn't. Week one, probably not much. Week two, a little. Week three is when the difference showed up in the trial — and it's when most people say they notice it. Anything that knocks you out in twenty minutes is sedating you, which is a different thing and comes with a morning attached.

So the guarantee runs 90 nights, not 30. A month isn't long enough to judge this fairly, which would make a 30-day promise a slightly dishonest one.

Start with one bottle. If it does nothing for you, tell us and we'll refund it — you won't need to post anything back.

Questions

Before you join

What am I actually signing up for?

An email list, and nothing else. No card, no charge, no obligation. When the first run has a date you'll get an email with your locked price and the option to order. If you'd rather not, ignore it or unsubscribe.

Is this just saffron I could buy cheaper?

No. Ordinary saffron and a standardised extract are different products. The research is done on extracts made to a specific marker profile by a specific low-heat process — a commodity powder at the same milligram number inherits none of it. We'll publish our full specification and the finished-product lab report before we ship.

Why only 20 mg when others say 88.5 mg?

Because nobody has ever run a trial at 88.5 mg. A big number is a marketing decision. An unstandardised 88.5 mg can contain fewer of the active compounds than 20 mg of properly standardised material.

Will it make me groggy?

In the trial, next-day sleepiness did not increase. That's an absence of a downside rather than a promise of extra energy, and it's the honest way to put it.

Who shouldn't take it?

Speak to your doctor first if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, if you take antidepressants, blood thinners or blood pressure medication, or if you have a diagnosed sleep disorder. The research was done in adults aged 18–65 and excluded several of these groups.
